Restaurant Væksthuset

Project description

The Opera Park, in Denmark’s capital of Copenhagen situated right next to the Copenhagen Opera House, is a public park on the harbour front of the city.
The park has been designed for recreation, relaxation and consists of six gardens, a greenhouse and an underground parking garage as well as a pedestrian bridge, which connects the park with the opera house.

In the centre of the park, a restaurant made of steel and glass was recently built, with a floor plan in the shape of a flower, in reference to the old historic garden.

mageba scope

To support the restaurant’s lightweight steel roof, a total of five mageba structural bearings of types RESTON-SPHERICAL and RESTON-FORCE were required.

The bearings installed on the columns of the building were designed in such a way that they provide vertical support to the lightweight roof, in both gravity and uplift scenarios, whilst simultaneously guiding horizontal forces and allowing movements as required by the structure.

Following the design of the products, they were fabricated in mageba’s Shanghai factory and shipped to Copenhagen.
